What's better loyalty and riptide?
Overall, Loyalty and Riptide are both excellent enchantments when used correctly, but Loyalty remains a better option due to its ability to keep players out of danger. It also makes the trident a very helpful ranged weapon in case players run out of arrows for their bow or crossbow.
Loyalty and Riptide are mutually exclusive. If the two are combined via commands, Riptide still functions normally but the trident can no longer be thrown.

The max level of enchantment for riptide is level three. Channeling enchantment is one of the only enchantments that can be placed on the same trident as riptide.
Tridents (if enchanted with Loyalty), can take fire damage but still return to the player if thrown in lava. This is especially helpful in the Nether should the player be using a trident instead of a bow.
