What is silica spray sealant?

Silica spray is a sealant for automotive surfaces including paint, chrome, plastic and glass. It provides a hard glass like coating which provides superior protection, gloss, smoothness and hydrophobic water repellant properties for 3–6 months.

Spray sealants are a great alternative to professional sealants. They are generally quicker and easier to apply, more affordable, but still give out fantastic results. Some of our favourites include Angelwax Ti-22 Titanium, Chemical Guys Hydrocharge, Stjarnagloss Parla, and Koch Chemie SOo2.

It seeps into cracks and, once dry, forms a rubberized surface that blocks out water, air and moisture – which helps prevent rust and corrosion. It's simple: point and spray, applying a nice, even coating. As you spray, it will actually fill in all the cracks and holes.

Summary – Silicone vs Silica

Silicone is a polymer consisting of siloxane. The term silica is the common name for silicon dioxide, and it is an oxide of silicon. The key difference between silicone and silica is that silicone is a polymeric material, whereas silica is silicon dioxide.

Sealants are designed to bond to your paint and provide roughly 3 to 6 months of protection. This is significantly longer protection than what a carnauba wax offers, which is typically 3 to 8 weeks.

The leading cause of dental sealant failure is due improper placement allowing salivary contamination. This may be in part to clinician's lack of experience, lack of patient cooperation and an inadequate amount of sealant material used.

Silicone sealants are commonly used to bind surfaces such as plastic, metal, and glass together. For example, aquariums are often sealed with silicone. Windows are often sealed to frames with silicone adhesive since it is weather resistant.

Silica has widespread industrial applications including use as a food additive, i.e., anti-caking agent, as a means to clarify beverages, control viscosity, as an anti-foaming agent, dough modifier, and as an excipient in drugs and vitamins.

What is silica solution used for?

Colloidal silica is used in a broad range of industries and applications, including: Densification of concrete, cement, and other materials. Fine retention in paper manufacturing. Enhanced bonding of waterborne adhesives.

“Sealant” is the general and correct term for the chemical used to seal. “Silicone” is one type of sealant. There are also acrylic sealants, polyurethane sealants etc. Silicone sealants are the most prevalent type of sealant.
